The story takes place during late summer, in the western Portuguese countryside. A young girl works in the pear harvest, a family business. During the harvest week, an old friend, Carolina, arrives in the village to spend a few days on vacation with her friends. That evening, the girl catches them stealing pears from one of her father's orchards.
